The US Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District awarded Carntribe, LLC the design/build of three new projects to include: a new 11,000-sf fire station, a new 10,000-sf dog kennel, and a new 3,200-sf pedestrian/troop bridge over US 280 at Harmony Church.

The Dog Kennel, used to house canines being trained in narcotics and explosives detection, consists of 24 indoor/outdoor runs, a veterinary procedure room, multimedia conference space, administrative offices and a kitchen.   Outlying buildings include an equipment maintenance building and an enclosed vault for storage of training materials.  This project was completed in March 2010.

Supporting work included the extension of all required utilities to new facilities; access drives and parking; access for individuals with disabilities; water; sewer; natural gas services; fire protection and alarm systems; lighting; storm drainage; curb and gutter; clearing and grubbing; erosion control; sidewalks; fencing; sitework; grassing; landscaping and signage.  Antiterrorism/force protection measures will include fencing, security, lighting and traffic control barriers.  An energy monitoring and control system (EMS) and fire/smoke detection/enunciation systems and suppression will be connected to the installation's central system.

The $6.9 million project began in August, 2009 and is scheduled to complete in December 2010.
